Summary:

Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the engineering manager will be the gatekeeper for custom development and strategic roadmap initiatives. You will be leading teams of highly talented geographically dispersed engineers, partnering with QA and Product, in an effort to develop practical scalable solutions through existing or new applications.  Say that 10 times fast….

 

Location (Wilmington, NC, Austin, TX, Remote):
We have offices in Wilmington, NC and Austin, TX and while some positions are office-based, we will also consider remote candidates depending on their time zone.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and people leadership while making key decisions related to engineering focus.
  • Drive Agile based product development, supporting organizational priorities and innovation.
  • Define key milestones, KPI’s, and outcome metrics to measure progress for the platform.
  • Work closely with the development team, product owner, and cross-functional team members to decompose stories, design features, and prioritize tasks.
  • Take an active role in mentoring and career progression of responsible team members.
  • Work with key stakeholders to scope and plan future projects.
  • Process improvement through feedback loops of team and own self-drive.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science or commensurate industry experience.
  • 5+ years leading an engineering team or management of.
  • 2+ years proven experience developing scalable / secure platforms.
  • 2+ years of experience interfacing with all layers of the technical stack.
  • 1+ year experience incident management.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills and experience establishing guidelines in these areas for others.
  • Passion for learning, building software quickly, driving value, and mitigating risk.
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Global mindset.
  • Experience in designing and building modern services on AWS a plus.
  • Experience of the Atlassian suite of tools a plus.
  • Mobile experience a plus.
  • Fintech experience a huge plus.
